Welcome to those of you who facilitate activities for those with dementia in long-term care or in other group settings. I feel most comfortable in this area because it was where I started my dementia care journey. I love doing group activities! This section will be for groups of more than two participants.
Some of the activities can also be done with one person. However, I know how difficult it can be to find activities and techniques for groups. I want to share what has worked – and what hasn’t – so that no one has to re-create the wheel!
No, these activities do not work all of the time with all groups, but I hope you find something to keep your people active, content, and hopeful! Join us!
******I’d like to put a good word in for a wonderful consulting group that has advised the staff (myself included) in my current workplace in using an activity program called Therapeutic Engagement. Good News Consulting has an excellent group of experts available to help you develop everything needed for enhancing quality of life for those living with dementia. If you work in a facility, I strongly advise you to contact this group! They are compassionate, knowledgeable consultants. You will not be disappointed! And, no, I don’t receive anything for referring them…. they are just too good NOT to share!*****
